But finally as opening day nears, yes thing are starting to show up. Gil Hodges, Ron Swoboda, Tom Seaver. Slowly but surely the new home of the New York Metropolitans will have some orange and blue amongst the blue steel and green seats. Everyone has difficulty accepting change after 40+ years but it's our new home and win or lose, up or down, we say "Let's Go Mets! Only this time we'll be saying it in a spiffy new ballpark! I think that its politically correct to want to honor Jackie Robinson anywhere, anytime. But that doesn't mean that it has to be done so profoundly in Citi Field. Robinson really has no ties to the Mets other than the contrived ones that Fred Wilpon has tried to generate for years. And regarding the first pitch at Citi Field, if it isn't Tom "The Franchise" Seaver I'll be flabbergasted. He's "The Franchise" for goodness sake. Who else could do it?
